Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2130 - $2250
• Location: Peoria, IL 61637 (Peoria / Central Illinois travel nursing)
• Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardio Thoracic Unit / Telemetry (Travel Nurse)
• Setting: Cardio Thoracic Unit (Cardiac telemetry, post-op thoracic care)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 13, 2026 – July 13, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (1900-0730)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours (guaranteed)
• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend; holiday rotation required
• Charting System: EPIC (experience preferred)
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs (no cartoon prints)

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active RN license in Illinois OR documentation that Illinois RN license application has been initiated (required for travel RN)
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent telemetry or cardio thoracic nursing experience (cardiac telemetry nurse, post-op thoracic care)
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation, cardiac monitoring, and hemodynamic assessment
• Experience with medication/drip titration (e.g., Cardizem, heparin) and advanced cardiac medication management
• Clinical experience with chest tubes, post-surgical thoracic patients, pacemaker/AICD care
• Familiarity troubleshooting CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high flow devices for complex patients

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for adults with cardiac and thoracic diagnoses including MI, CHF, A-fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placements, and lung surgeries
• Monitor cardiac telemetry, interpret EKGs, and titrate medications per protocol
• Manage chest tubes, post-op thoracic care, and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, physicians, and patient care techs to ensure high-quality, interdisciplinary care
• Float to other general medical units as required to support patient care needs
• Troubleshoot and support patients on home regimens using CPAP/BiPAP and heated high flow systems
• Document patient care accurately and timely using EPIC electronic health record
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled
