Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Room RN (ER RN) experience in an acute care or emergency department setting
• Current Maine RN license or compact state license accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
• Required immunizations: Varicella (2 doses or titer), HepB (3 doses or titer or declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, PPD (2-step or titer within past 12 months), annual flu shot during flu season
• BSN preferred
• Strong triage, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills for fast-paced ED care
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 30 lbs, patient transfers, and potential exposure to infectious diseases
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) documentation and accurate charting preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing age-appropriate nursing assessments and triage in the emergency department
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and physician orders
• Carry out nursing interventions to achieve patient goals and document care activities according to hospital standards
• Safely administer medications, monitor patient responses, and report changes to the healthcare team
• Provide patient and family education regarding care, discharge instructions, and follow-up plans
• Communicate effectively with physicians, ED staff, and multidisciplinary teams during bedside rounding and handoffs
• Maintain a safe, wellness-focused environment for patients and staff and support ED quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in emergency management protocols and assist with specialty/supplemental nursing documentation as needed
