Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,260 - $2,430
- Location: A leading pediatric hospital in Madison, WI 53792 (Madison, WI / Wisconsin travel job)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: May 4, 2026 (flexible: 5/4, 5/11, or 5/18)
- Shift: Day/Evening, 8-hour shifts, Monday - Friday between 07:00 - 18:30
- Hours per Week: 40
- On-call: Weeknight, weekend, and holiday call responsibility (on-call 3-4 weekends during contract; Friday 15:00 to Monday 07:00)
- Orientation: 24 hours
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric CVOR experience required (Pediatric Cardiovascular OR)
- If first-time traveler, must have 5 years of recent relevant CVOR experience
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required; BLS (AHA only) required
- Successful completion of a surgical technologist program OR 2 years' experience in a Surgical Technologist role may be considered in lieu of program completion
- Experience in a Level I trauma center and teaching facility preferred
- Must pass telemetry exam prior to start (strict criteria; see Telemetry Exam Requirements below)
- License must be in hand at submittal
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Responsibilities
- Prepare the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) and pediatric operating room for procedures, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety
- Assist surgeons and scrub for pediatric cardiac and generalist cases, including cardiac/life or limb call
- Provide perioperative care for patients across age groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
- Maintain, sterilize, and manage surgical instruments, implants, and supplies
- Promote surgical team safety and best practices in pediatric and cardiovascular cases
- Float to multiple units as needed based on staffing requirements
- Participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations as required
- Maintain competency across a broad case mix (approximately 80% generalist, 20% cardiac/CVOR cases)
Telemetry Exam Requirements
- Adult Exam: 100% identification of lethal rhythms (ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole); no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions; passing score of 80% or higher
- Pediatric Exam: Identification of ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia; passing score of 80% or higher
- Two attempts allowed; additional review course required if not passed
