Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Night travel contract in Columbia, SC 29203. Seeking an experienced pediatric/NICU RRT for a 13-week travel respiratory therapist job at a leading children’s hospital (Level III NICU, Level I Trauma Center).

  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,730 – $1,860
  • Location: Columbia, SC 29203 (Columbia, South Carolina)
  • Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Travel Respiratory Therapist, Pediatric Respiratory Care
  • Setting: Children's Hospital Respiratory Care – NICU, PICU, Pediatrics
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
  • Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30), 36 hours/week
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
  • Call Requirement: Three call shifts in a 6-week period (5pm – 8pm)

Qualifications / Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapist experience in a children’s hospital NICU and PICU (pediatric respiratory therapist)
  • Current CRT or RRT license in South Carolina
  • Current BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
  • At least 1 year of experience with EPIC EMR
  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
  • Ability to float to qualified units as needed; strong teamwork and communication skills for interdisciplinary pediatric care

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive respiratory care for neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients across NICU, PICU, and pediatric medical/surgical units
  • Perform neonatal and pediatric intubation (including VLBW neonates), extubation, advanced airway management, and ventilator management
  • Assist with neonatal and pediatric resuscitation and stabilization as part of Rapid Response and code teams
  • Administer and manage inhaled nitric oxide (iNO), Heliox, and advanced respiratory support devices (Servo ventilators, Sensormedics 3100A/B, Bunnell HFJV, V60 BiPAP, Precision Flow/Vapotherm, Optiflow Junior, Metaneb, Cough Assist, Nitric Oxide Vero/iNOVent)
  • Collect respiratory specimens, perform blood gas draws and analysis, and document findings in EPIC EMR according to protocols
  • Follow established clinical protocols and collaborate with Respiratory Services, Neonatology, Pediatrics, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize pediatric patient outcomes
  • Complete required pre-assignment testing and orientation modules (up to 16 hours reimbursed)
