Oncology RN (Night Shift Travel Nurse) – 13-week contract in Frederick, MD. Chemotherapy-certified RNs with an active RN license and oncology experience are encouraged to apply.

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 - $2,010
• Location: Frederick, MD 21701
• Setting: 2C Oncology Unit (12 beds) – Oncology, Thoracic, Bariatric
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 5/6/2026 – End: 8/5/2026)
• Shift: Night Shift Travel Nurse; 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30); rotating holidays & weekends
• Patient Ratio: 1:4 (occasionally 1:5 depending on acuity)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Orientation: 24 hours

Oncology RN Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year recent Oncology RN experience (2 years preferred)
• Active Registered Nurse license (Maryland license or compact RN license accepted/preferred)
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS / ONCC) — required for chemotherapy RN roles
• BLS and NIHSS certifications
• Experience with Meditech charting system preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Key Responsibilities – Oncology & Surgical Care

• Administer and monitor chemotherapy treatments (oral, infusion, continuous infusion) with strict adherence to safety protocols
• Provide post-operative care for thoracic and bariatric surgery patients
• Manage chest tubes, surgical drains, ports, central lines, and PICC lines
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms
• Provide wound care and ostomy (colostomy/ileostomy) management
• Assess and manage medication tolerance, side effects, and oncology complications (anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, sepsis, neuropathy)
• Implement and maintain isolation and neutropenic precautions to protect immunocompromised patients
• Educate and support patients and families on chemotherapy, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and symptom management
• Float to med/surg/tele units as needed and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, rapid response)
• Participate in unit-based quality initiatives and safety reporting related to oncology nursing
