Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $930 - $1000
• Location: Rochester, NY 14642 — inpatient psychiatric hospital; Rochester behavioral health jobs in upstate New York
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 25, 2026)
• Shift Schedule: Rotating Days/Evenings/Nights, including holidays and weekends as needed
• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
• Hours per Week: 48
• Employment Type: Travel assignment – Psychiatric/Mental Health Technician role

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years recent experience as a Psych/MH Tech, Psychiatric Technician, or Mental Health Technician in an inpatient psychiatric/behavioral health setting
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Associate's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or related field
• Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills; experience with patient safety and behavioral interventions preferred
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and clinical support to inpatient psychiatric patients on an individual basis
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, social and psychiatric rehabilitation as directed by the RN
• Maintain patient observation, document behaviors, and communicate changes in patient status to the RN
• Participate in rounds, group therapy sessions, and multidisciplinary team communication
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and unit policies to ensure patient and staff safety; respond to on-call and call-back needs per unit requirements
