Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
• Valid, current State OTA license required prior to assignment
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required before first shift
• Previous inpatient rehab or hospital experience working in occupational therapy
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-centered skills
• Ability to document timely and accurately in the facility’s charting system

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy interventions and direct patient care under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT) following state practice guidelines
• Assist with patient assessment, treatment planning, and delivery of individualized home programs and ADL retraining
• Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques, safety practices, and mobility strategies
• Monitor patient response to treatment and collaborate with the OT to modify interventions as needed
• Complete progress notes, daily notes, and required documentation within department timeframes
• Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences, continuing education, and in-service training
• Promote patient and staff safety by adhering to infection control, safe patient handling, and facility policies
• Assist with discharge planning and recommend appropriate adaptive equipment and durable medical equipment (DME)
• Maintain flexibility in scheduling and demonstrate professional customer service toward patients, visitors, and staff
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory OT or department leadership
