Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1920 - $2020 (Travel RN weekly pay)
- Location: Glen Burnie, MD (Zip: 21061) — Baltimore-area, Maryland
- Setting: Med/Surg Telemetry – 5 South Unit (22 rooms, 42 beds, avg census 40-42)
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Start Date: May 4, 2026
- Shift: Day Shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (08:00 – 20:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Holiday Coverage: As scheduled
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Job Requirements (Registered Nurse – RN)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience (Med/Surg Tele RN)
- Travel nursing experience required (travel RN experience preferred)
- Active Maryland RN license or Multistate Compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS (AHA only), CPI, NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record (Epic charting system)
- Comfortable with patient ratios of 1:5
- Ability to float to sister units and lower-acuity units as needed
- References: 2 satisfactory professional references from most recent employers (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN)
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Locals must reside at least 50 miles from facility
Key Responsibilities (Med/Surg Telemetry Nursing)
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Monitor and manage cardiac telemetry; interpret and respond to dysrhythmias
- Provide post-surgical care: post-angiogram, post-MI, thyroidectomy, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and neurosurgery
- Manage surgical drains, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula
- Administer and monitor cardiac drips (no titration), blood products, and IV therapies
- Perform wound care, wound vac management, and isolation precautions
- Manage central and peripheral lines, PICC lines, and perform phlebotomy
- Care for patients with bowel obstruction, colostomy/ileostomy, feeding tubes, renal failure, and substance withdrawal
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Float to other units as needed within scope of experience
