- Setting: MS/Tele-Ortho Unit (6th Floor)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Holiday Coverage: As scheduled
- Floating: Required within specialty and lower acuity units as needed

Required Qualifications (Orthopedic RN / Travel Nurse)
- Minimum 2 years recent general surgery/orthopedic RN experience (considering first-time travel RNs with ?1 year acute care and strong skills)
- Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license accepted
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA only)
- CPI certification preferred
- Experience with Epic (EMR) preferred
- Ability to float within hospital as needed
- Two satisfactory professional references from most recent employers (one supervisor/manager and one charge RN acceptable)
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Local candidates must reside at least 50 miles from facility
Key Responsibilities – Orthopedic & Acute Care Nursing
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing complex orthopedic, general surgery, and specialty procedures (total joints, spine fusions, foot/ankle, head/neck, colorectal, hepatobiliary, urology, GYN)
- Monitor and interpret EKGs and telemetry rhythms; recognize and manage dysrhythmias
- Perform IV therapy, PCA/PCEA management, capnography monitoring, wound vac care, and surgical drain management
- Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines following heparin and blood administration protocols
- Use bedside shift reports, HCAHPS-focused communication, unit white boards, and secure messaging for effective care coordination
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response
- Maintain infection control, isolation precautions, and safe patient handling
- Float to other units within scope of practice as needed
