• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,470 – $1,550
• Location: Harvey, IL (60426) — south of Chicago; Chicago-area travel nursing opportunity
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: April 13, 2026
• Shift: Day shifts, 3 x 12-hour (06:45 – 19:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating Requirement: Yes
• Charting: Epic (electronic health record)

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a behavioral health, psychiatric, or mental health inpatient setting
• Active Illinois RN license (must be in hand at time of application) — Illinois RN / nursing license required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification preferred
• Experience with Epic charting system required
• Ability to float to other units as needed
• First-time travel nurses and local RNs accepted
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off during contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adults in an inpatient psychiatric/behavioral health unit focused on stabilization and safety
• Perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments, develop nursing care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, PTSD, substance-related disorders, and psychosis
• Administer psychotropic medications (antianxiety, antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers) and monitor therapeutic response and side effects
• Perform basic medical nursing tasks as indicated: wound care, dressing changes, IV starts and maintenance, blood glucose monitoring, and lab value interpretation
• Implement behavior management techniques, crisis intervention, and safe physical hold protocols when necessary
• Provide psychoeducation and coping strategy training to patients and families
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including social work, pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and rapid response teams
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic to ensure continuity of care
