Job Details — Travel Phlebotomy Job in Hyannis, MA
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,240 – $1,330
- Location: Hyannis, MA (Zip: 02601) — Cape Cod, Massachusetts
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 25, 2026)
- Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Shift: 8-hour shifts, flexible start times between 7:00am and 10:00am; rotating days, occasional weekends and holidays
- Employment Type: Travel / Contract — clinical laboratory / phlebotomy role
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of prior phlebotomy or blood collection experience required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills for donor recruitment and patient care
- Ability to work independently and perform under pressure in a clinical laboratory setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records / data entry
- National phlebotomy certification or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program preferred (AHA, ASCP, or equivalent)
Responsibilities — Donor Care & Blood Collection
- Organize, recruit, and draw blood donors through hospital donor programs and offsite blood drives
- Screen donors for eligibility and document screening results in compliance with CCHC, CDC, FDA, AABB, and CAP standards
- Perform whole blood collections and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures using proper venipuncture technique
- Prepare, label, and process blood components and specimens for laboratory testing and transfusion services
- Maintain accurate donor records and data entry, including donor deferrals and quality control documentation
- Assist with donor recruitment activities, inventory management, and daily replenishment of donor care supplies
- Obtain appropriate blood specimens from donors and patients, ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized work areas; follow infection control and safety protocols
- Stay current on departmental and hospital policies, emergency procedures, and disaster plans
- Provide consistent service excellence to patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers
- Perform other related duties as assigned within the clinical laboratory / phlebotomy role
