Minimum Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience required — clinical laboratory, hospital lab experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science from an accredited institution preferred
• Valid Medical Technologist certification through TN State Licensure, ASCP, AMT, AAB, HHS, or equivalent accrediting agency required (Medical Laboratory Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist credentials)
• Tennessee (TN) state license preferred — Tennessee lab jobs, Knoxville lab jobs
• Chemistry, hematology, and blood bank experience preferred (blood bank, transfusion services)
• Military-trained laboratory specialists may qualify—see full requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples to assist physicians in diagnosis and monitoring of disease states — clinical testing, chemistry, hematology, blood bank
• Follow standardized laboratory procedures and prepare samples for testing using hospital laboratory protocols
• Analyze test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits; report critical values per policy
• Maintain compliance with laboratory safety, quality assurance, and CLIA/Joint Commission standards
• Float to other lab sections as needed; no on-call required
• Collaborate with laboratory team members and report to manager or supervisor — strong teamwork and communication skills
