Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting
• Chemistry, hematology, and blood bank experience preferred — clinical lab testing experience strongly desired
• Associate degree from an accredited Medical Lab Technician program or equivalent recognized by the U.S. Department of Education preferred
• Valid MLT certification or licensure required (TN State Licensure, ASCP, AMT, AAB, HHS, or equivalent accrediting agency)
• Tennessee state license preferred; applicants meeting CLIA grandfathering requirements will be considered
• Familiarity with hospital protocols, quality control, and laboratory safety standards

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples (chemistry, hematology, blood bank) to support physician diagnosis and patient monitoring
• Follow standardized procedures, prepare and process specimens for testing, and ensure accurate specimen labeling and handling
• Analyze and verify test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits; document results in Cerner EMR as required
• Maintain familiarity with standard laboratory concepts, practices, procedures, and quality control measures
• Float to other lab areas as needed to support clinical operations; no on-call required
• Collaborate with lab team members and report to supervisor or manager to ensure efficient patient care in the clinical lab setting
