Travel OR RN Job Details
- Position: Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (Perioperative / Surgical Nurse)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250 – $2,370
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: 5x8-Hour Days (Monday–Friday, 07:00 – 15:30)
- Hours per Week: 40
- On-call Requirement: Nights, weekends, and holidays (typically 1 night per week; 2–3 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)
- Staffing Ratio: 1:1
- Setting: Main hospital operating room (community hospital; perioperative services)
Job Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of main hospital OR experience (perioperative / surgical nurse experience)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to obtain state RN licensure for travel assignment may be required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Experience with Meditech charting system (electronic medical record experience preferred)
- Community hospital operating room experience required
- Ability to float to units with similar or lower acuity if needed
- COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Previous charge experience preferred
Responsibilities (Perioperative / OR RN)
- Perform perioperative patient assessment and reassessment on admission to the OR, addressing biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education, discharge planning, and family support needs
- Develop and implement individualized intraoperative nursing care plans for each patient
- Monitor and document patient status throughout surgical procedures using Meditech and established documentation standards
- Administer blood products, monitor cardiac status, and provide conscious sedation as needed
- Assist and scrub for a wide range of surgical procedures including general, pediatric, orthopedic, gynecological, thoracic, and robotic surgeries
- Maintain strict infection control, sterile technique, safety protocols, and specimen handling/labeling standards
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to code situations as required
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social services to ensure coordinated perioperative care
