Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Sterile Processing Technician (SPD Tech / Central Sterile Technician)
- CRCST or CSPDT certification required
- Previous travel healthcare experience preferred (travel SPD roles)
- Ability to float to any location within the health system as needed
- Nicotine-free campus policy
- Orientation: Monday & Tuesday at KU Main Campus
Key Responsibilities
- Perform sterile processing duties in the Operating Room and Central Sterile Processing: decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment
- Operate and monitor sterilizers (autoclaves) and other sterilization equipment following hospital protocols and infection prevention standards
- Prepare and stage instrument trays and procedure-specific supplies to support surgical teams and scheduled cases
- Maintain accurate instrument tracking, documentation, and sterilization records in compliance with regulatory and safety standards
- Adhere to infection control policies, sterile technique, and hospital SPD protocols to ensure patient safety
- Float to other locations within the health system and participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations as required
