This office-based travel nurse role leverages PACU and perioperative nursing expertise to coordinate care, perform pre-anesthesia testing, and ensure an excellent patient experience. Ideal for a Perioperative RN, PACU Registered Nurse, or Travel RN with outpatient orthopedic or medical-surgical background.
Job Details – Travel Nurse / PACU RN
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,370 – $2,500 (Travel Nurse pay)
- Location: Aspen, CO 81611 (Aspen healthcare jobs / Colorado travel nurse jobs)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: 10-hour days (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri) — Office-based Patient Navigator role (no bedside PACU care)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Employment Type: Travel Contract RN / Travel Nurse position
- Setting: Office-based perioperative/patient navigation (pre-op testing, care coordination)
Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Unrestricted RN license in Colorado (or ability to obtain prior to start date) — Registered Nurse licensure required for travel RN roles
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – may be obtained upon hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- At least 3 years of inpatient or outpatient orthopedic nursing and/or medical-surgical experience; perioperative or PACU background strongly preferred
- Must be healthy enough to safely function in a high-altitude environment (Aspen is ~8,000 ft elevation)
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record preferred (EPIC experience is a plus for this clinical support role)
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred — enhances patient communication and care coordination
- Travelers are responsible for securing their own housing; consider nearby towns such as Basalt, Carbondale, or Glenwood Springs
Key Responsibilities – Patient Navigator / PACU RN
- Serve as the Patient Navigator for surgical patients, coordinating the perioperative diagnostic and treatment process
- Perform pre-anesthesia testing (PAT) and pre-op assessments to ensure patient readiness for surgery
- Provide patient education, discharge planning support, and clear perioperative instructions
- Establish positive, respectful relationships with patients and families to facilitate a high-quality patient experience
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perioperative teams, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure seamless care coordination
- Document assessments and care plans in the EHR (EPIC preferred)
