Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980 – $2,080 (competitive weekly pay for travel RNs)
- Location: Durham, NC (27710) — close to Research Triangle Park (RTP)
- Contract Duration: 10 weeks (April 20, 2026 – June 29, 2026)
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Up to 6 weekend shifts, plus 4 Mondays and 4 Fridays per contract
- Orientation: Bi-weekly, 24 hours
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse / Contract RN
Key Qualifications
- Minimum 2 recent years of Cardiac Telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown experience
- Active North Carolina (NC) RN license or Compact RN license (must be in hand)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (must be in hand)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- One supervisory reference within the last year
- First-time travelers and local candidates (within 75 miles) welcome to apply
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized post-operative care to patients recovering from cardiothoracic surgeries, heart transplants, and advanced cardiac procedures
- Monitor and manage cardiac telemetry and stepdown/PCU/IMC patients with attention to early recognition of deterioration
- Interpret dysrhythmias and coordinate care for cardiac drips (no titration) and rapid response/code team activation
- Administer IV medications and blood products; manage central and peripheral lines
- Care for patients with chest tubes, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and wound vacs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy
- Float as needed to PCU/Stepdown/IMCU units and maintain a flexible travel nurse mindset
- Adhere strictly to isolation precautions, PPE protocols, and hospital safety policies
