Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required (LTAC, ICU, step-down, or med-surg experience preferred)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific licensing required for travel assignments; Pennsylvania licensure or compact RN license encouraged)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required prior to first shift
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification required prior to first shift
- ICU experience or LTAC/critical care background is a strong plus
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care following individualized nursing care plans in an LTAC setting
- Perform nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission and develop/implement effective care plans
- Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees; provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel
- Participate in and support patient rehabilitation programs and direct patient care for complex, long-term cases
- Identify patient teaching needs, initiate discharge planning at admission, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support recovery
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner to ensure continuity of care
- Communicate changes in patient status to care providers and contribute to a safe, efficient care environment
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested after orientation and demonstrate leadership in clinical situations
- Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to hospital policies, infection control, and best-practice standards
- Engage in professional growth, continuing education, and maintain certifications required for travel nursing
