Travel CVOR Registered Nurse (RN) – 26-week contract in Midland, TX. Join a cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) team caring for adult and geriatric patients in a modern community hospital near downtown Midland (zip 79701).
Job Details – CVOR Travel RN / Cardiac Surgery Nurse
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,370 - $2,500 (Travel RN pay)
- Location: Midland, TX (zip 79701) — Texas travel nursing opportunity
- Contract Duration: 26 weeks (May 4, 2026 – November 2, 2026)
- Setting: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) / Cardiovascular Surgery Unit
- Shift: Day shift, 5x8-hour (06:00 - 14:30)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekend Coverage: Required (varies based on staffing)
- Call: Required after 2:30pm, weekends, and holidays
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Charting System: Cerner (experience preferred)
- Orientation: 16 hours
CVOR RN Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending license accepted with submission; must be active before start)
- Minimum 1 year of recent CVOR / cardiovascular OR nursing experience
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record preferred
- Community hospital experience required — perioperative and cardiac surgery experience a plus
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions and declinations accepted)
- Ability to pass an on-site drug screen
Primary Responsibilities – Cardiovascular OR Nurse
- Provide direct perioperative patient care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room for adult and geriatric populations
- Assist with cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures including CABG, valve replacements, thoracotomy, VATS, and endovascular repairs
- Monitor cardiac status, hemodynamics, and administer blood products as indicated
- Maintain infection control, laser/radiation safety, and proper specimen handling
- Perform peripheral IV starts, urinary catheterization, wound management, and monitor conscious sedation
- Participate in universal protocol (time-out) procedures and perioperative safety checks
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, surgical techs) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Provide float and call coverage as required, including weekends and holidays
