Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,710 – $1,800
• Location: Wilmington, NC 28401 (Coastal North Carolina, near historic downtown and local beaches)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: ED Holding Support (Float Pool) — Med/Surg/Telemetry role
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele, 1:4 for PCU-level patients
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Orientation: 12 hours

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience (acute care, telemetry monitoring)
• Active North Carolina RN license or Compact RN license (required at time of start)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start
• Comfortable floating to ED and Med/Surg units as needed (float pool/ED Holding experience preferred)
• Epic charting experience preferred (electronic medical record experience a plus)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• NIHSS certification preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Provide bedside nursing care for adult patients with a variety of medical/surgical and telemetry diagnoses in the ED Holding Unit
• Manage continuous telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation; escalate and participate in rapid response teams as needed
• Perform clinical tasks including colostomy care, feeding tube management, renal failure interventions, and blood product administration
• Provide peripheral and PICC line care and assist with medication administration including heparin and insulin protocols
• Use respiratory support equipment (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and supplemental oxygen devices) and care for patients with tracheostomies and chest tubes
• Float to ED and Med/Surg units according to census and unit needs; adapt to varying patient acuity in the float pool environment
• Document accurately in Epic and communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams for safe transitions and continuity of care
• Participate in storm/hurricane team assignments and department preparedness activities when required
