- Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,050 – $3,280
- Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320 (Hampton Roads — near Norfolk/Virginia Beach)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Employment Type: Travel Pharmacist, On-site Inpatient Pharmacist
- Hours per Week: 40
- Shift Schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, rotating days/evenings/overnights (weekdays and every 3rd weekend). Overnight rotation: 7 nights on / 7 nights off.
- Shift Times: Day (06:30–15:00, 07:30–16:00, 09:00–17:30, 10:00–18:30), Evening (13:00–21:30, 14:30–23:00), Overnight (19:30–07:30, 20:30–07:30)
- Dress Code: Professional dress or hunter green scrubs
Required Qualifications — Inpatient Pharmacist
- Valid Virginia pharmacist license or compact license in hand at time of application (required)
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (required); PharmD or RPh credential (required)
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient/hospital pharmacy experience (required)
- EPIC (electronic health record) charting experience (required)
- Experience with IV preparation/admixture, medication order entry, verification, and drug interaction monitoring (required)
- Familiarity with pain controlled analgesia, antibiotic stewardship, and medication safety practices (required)
- Preferred: chemotherapy preparation experience, anticoagulation management, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing
- Preferred: previous travel pharmacist experience
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- Clean professional background with no prior license or background hits
Key Responsibilities — Hospital/Inpatient Pharmacist
- Provide comprehensive inpatient clinical pharmacy services, including IV preparation, sterile compounding per policy, and medication dispensing
- Verify and enter medication orders in EPIC, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to hospital and regulatory protocols
- Monitor and mitigate drug interactions, manage pain controlled analgesia, and support antibiotic therapy optimization
- Perform pharmacokinetic dosing adjustments and renal dosing recommendations when applicable
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to improve medication safety and patient outcomes
- Participate in scheduled weekend and overnight rotations as assigned
- Maintain professional standards, documentation, and compliance with hospital policies and state regulations
