Travel SICU RN – 13-week night contract in Springfield, Illinois. Seeking an experienced Surgical ICU Registered Nurse (RN) with Cerner charting and an active Illinois RN license to provide high-quality critical care in a Magnet-recognized, Level I trauma center.

Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000 - $2,100 (travel RN pay)
- Location: Springfield, IL 62781 — Springfield, Illinois travel nursing job
- Facility: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet-recognized, Level I Trauma Center
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 27, 2026)
- Shift: 3x12 Hour Nights (18:45 – 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Orientation: 40 hours
- Scrub Color: Any solid color
- Parking: Free permit provided
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of recent Surgical ICU (SICU) or critical care RN experience — neuro, trauma, and surgical critical care experience preferred
- Active Illinois RN license in hand (compact not accepted unless active Illinois privilege)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA or Red Cross only)
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record/charting system
- Ability to float to other ICUs (e.g., MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU) as needed
- Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients in the SICU
- Monitor and manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and complex surgical/trauma conditions
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, arterial blood gases, and ventilator settings; adjust ventilator and titratable drips per protocol
- Administer emergency medications and titrate cardiac and vasoactive infusions
- Assist with bedside procedures such as bronchoscopy, EVD placement, and central/arterial line placement
- Perform frequent neuro assessments and manage post-neurosurgery patients
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams
- Maintain infection prevention, isolation precautions, and accurate documentation using Cerner
