About the PCU Travel RN Role

This 13-week travel nursing contract (June 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026) places you in a 31-bed mixed-acuity PCU/Med-Surg unit at a major university hospital caring for adult stepdown and med/surg patients. Ideal candidates have strong critical care and stepdown nursing experience, EPIC documentation skills, and comfort with charge responsibilities on night shifts.

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940 - $2,040

• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30) — night shift travel nurse
• Setting: 31-bed mixed-acuity PCU / Med-Surg (progressive care, stepdown)
• Employment Type: Travel RN, On-site

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU / Stepdown RN experience (progressive care, med/surg, stepdown nursing)
• Active Ohio RN license or valid multistate compact RN license (travel nursing license accepted)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Comfortable managing CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, medication titrations, and cardiac drips
• Experience serving as charge nurse on night shifts preferred
• Ability to float within the OSU organization as needed (cross-unit flexibility)
• Experience with EPIC documentation and Omnicell preferred
• Two professional references required (one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult stepdown and med/surg patients in the PCU (Progressive Care Unit)
• Manage and monitor patients on CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and other oxygen therapies
• Titrate cardiac drips, recognize and manage dysrhythmias, and escalate care as needed
• Perform wound care, wound VAC management, and chest tube care
• Participate in rapid response and code team interventions as necessary
• Float to other units within the OSU organization when required
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities during night shifts when assigned
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
