- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940 – $2,040
- Location: Columbus, Ohio (ZIP 43203) — Columbus healthcare/Ohio travel nursing job
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Shift: Night shift travel nurse — 3 x 12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30), 36 hours/week
- Unit: Tower 10 – General & Vascular Surgery (Med/Surg Telemetry)
- Patient Ratio: 1 RN : 4–5 patients
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent experience as a Med/Surg Tele RN, Telemetry RN, or medical-surgical telemetry nurse
- Active RN license (compact or Ohio RN license required at time of submission)
- Graduated from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Current BLS certification (AHA preferred)
- Proven proficiency with IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and intermediate Med/Surg clinical skills
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) strongly preferred
- Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- Two professional references (one from manager/director or formal leadership; Charge RN acceptable as second)
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in general surgery, trauma, vascular, wound, and plastics — typical duties for a Registered Nurse in Med/Surg Telemetry
- Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, recognize dysrhythmias, and activate rapid response/code teams when indicated
- Perform and manage IV starts, PICC line care, central and peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and port access
- Administer medications including heparin, insulin, PCA, and follow IV insulin protocols
- Manage colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, and wound care (including wound vacs, flaps, and leech therapy)
- Care for patients receiving pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure management, and other complex medical-surgical needs
- Provide airway and respiratory support: BiPAP/CPAP, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, trach care, and oxygen therapy
- Support patients with substance withdrawal and manage surgical drains, chest tubes, and other post-op care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — IV teams, PT, respiratory therapy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and others — to ensure coordinated patient care
