- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,120 – $1,200
- Location: Tyler, Texas 75701 (Smith County, East Texas)
- Employment Type: Travel Contract / Travel Laboratory Job
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 19, 2026)
- Shift: Saturday – Monday, 6:00 AM – 7:30 PM (12-hour days)
- Hours per Week: 36
- On-Site Position: Cath lab & clinical laboratory (transfusion services / blood bank)
Qualifications & Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution OR equivalent laboratory training and experience per CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489)
- Certification as MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS (must be maintained and kept current)
- New graduates who are board certified or board eligible (must complete board certification within 1 year of hire)
- Strong transfusion service (blood banking) skills required — experience with crossmatching, antibody workups, and blood component management preferred
- At least 1 year of approved clinical laboratory experience preferred (experience in cath lab-related laboratory work or hospital blood bank is a plus)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, calculation, and accurate reporting of results
- Provide transfusion services and blood bank support for inpatient and procedural areas (blood product preparation, compatibility testing, and documentation)
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and cath lab-related lab equipment
- Follow laboratory quality control protocols and ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and hospital regulatory standards
- Utilize the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for accurate data entry, verification, and reporting of critical values
- Notify clinical teams of critical laboratory values and provide thorough documentation
- Cross-train to other laboratory sections as needed to support cath lab and clinical operations
- Participate in the development and implementation of new testing procedures and quality improvement initiatives
- Complete required compliance, competency, and regulatory tasks on schedule
- Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and laboratory efficiency
