Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980 – $2,080
- Location: Durham, NC 27710 (Durham, Research Triangle, North Carolina nursing jobs)
- Assignment Duration: 10 weeks (April 20, 2026 – June 29, 2026)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 07:00 – 19:30; Night: 19:00 – 07:30)
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 4 weekend shifts and 4 Monday or Friday shifts per contract
- Patient Ratio: 1:3 (cardiac stepdown/unit based telemetry)
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
Cardiac Stepdown RN Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Telemetry or cardiothoracic stepdown nursing experience
- Active NC RN license or Compact RN license (must be in hand)
- ACLS and BLS certifications (must be in hand)
- EPIC electronic charting experience required
- Travel nursing experience required (travel RN / travel nurse)
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- One supervisory reference within the last year
Responsibilities (Cardiac Telemetry / Stepdown)
- Provide high-quality care for cardiothoracic post-op patients (CABG, valve replacements, lung & heart transplants, aortic aneurysm repairs, lobectomies, wedge resections)
- Continuous monitoring of patients on central and in-room telemetry; identify and escalate arrhythmias and cardiac changes
- Manage oxygen therapy, epidurals, PCA pumps, Foley catheters, epicardial pacers, IV drips, and chest tubes
- Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines with strict adherence to protocols
- Implement heparin protocols, insulin titration, and IV insulin protocols safely and accurately
- Float to PCU/Stepdown/IMCU units as needed to support patient care and unit needs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, physical therapy (PT), respiratory therapy (RT), pharmacy, and rapid response
- Maintain strict adherence to isolation precautions, PPE protocols, and hospital safety standards
