- Position: Registered Nurse – PCU/Stepdown (Telemetry/Cardiology)
- Job Type: Travel Nurse – 10-week contract
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890 – $1,990
- Location: Durham, North Carolina (Zip: 27710) — Durham healthcare / North Carolina nursing jobs
- Contract Duration: 10 weeks (April 20, 2026 – June 29, 2026)
- Shift: Night Shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30) — night shift RN
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Cardiology PCU (Stepdown), 31 beds, adult patient population
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling with requirements for 2 Mondays & 2 Fridays per 8 weeks, plus 4 weekend shifts per 8 weeks
- On-Call: Yes
- Floating: May float to Heart Center Stepdown or other units as needed
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
Qualifications & Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 recent years of PCU/Telemetry experience — progressive care unit RN or stepdown nurse experience required
- Active North Carolina RN license in hand or Compact RN license
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- EPIC electronic medical record/charting experience required
- Travel nursing experience required — prior travel RN assignments preferred
- Preferred: Previous charge nurse experience and Trauma Level I experience
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- 1 supervisory reference from the past year required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality acute and progressive care nursing to adult patients in the PCU/Stepdown unit
- Monitor and manage cardiac drips, telemetry, and post-cardiac procedure care — cardiac nursing and telemetry monitoring
- Perform and manage IVs, central lines, PICC lines, and blood product administration
- Care for patients with complex diagnoses including cardiac, neurological, and post-surgical needs
- Administer and titrate medications, including insulin and vasoactive drips
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Services, and others)
- Participate in rapid response and code teams as needed
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EPIC (electronic health record)
- Float to other units as required and participate in on-call rotations
