- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 27, 2026)
- Shift: 3x12 Hour Days (06:00 – 18:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Scrub Color: Any solid color
- Parking: Free with permit
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license required at time of application
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist in acute care or critical care
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross only)
- Experience in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department (ED) settings
- Cerner electronic charting experience required
- Ability to float within hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
- Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- First-time travelers accepted — excellent opportunity for travel respiratory therapist roles
Key Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care to adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics across a busy acute care hospital
- Airway management and procedures: endotracheal tube care and suctioning, extubation support, intubation assist, nasal/oral airway placement, sputum specimen collection, tracheostomy care
- Administer aerosolized therapies and nebulizer treatments (handheld, T-piece, trach collar)
- Deliver and titrate oxygen therapy including bag-valve mask, ET tube, high flow nasal cannula, Venturi masks, and trach collar
- Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator weaning (BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator troubleshooting, high-pressure alarm management)
- Participate in bedside bronchoscopy and procedural support
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Respiratory Services, Rapid Response, ICU, and ED
- Float to other units or affiliate hospitals as needed to meet facility staffing and patient care needs
