Behavioral Health RN Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State (NY)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or mental health nursing
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• Experience with behavioral health assessments, care planning, and medication administration
• Strong communication, de-escalation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team (psychiatrists, social workers, therapists)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to individuals with behavioral health and psychiatric needs in an inpatient setting
• Conduct behavioral health assessments, develop nursing care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer and monitor medications; document patient responses and follow safety protocols
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate changes in patient condition to the treatment team
• Participate in treatment planning, psychoeducation, and discharge planning for psychiatric patients
• Promote a safe, therapeutic environment using evidence-based de-escalation and safety practices
