Med/Surg RN Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years bedside clinical experience in a medical-surgical (Med/Surg) inpatient setting
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-appropriate licensure for Ohio travel nurse roles)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• EPIC EMR experience (electronic medical record proficiency preferred)

Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission (inpatient nursing)
• Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner in EPIC
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching beginning at admission
• Communicate changes in patient status to care team members to ensure continuity and patient safety
• Supervise and train Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and unit orientees
• Promote patient and staff safety by adhering to hospital guidelines and safety policies
• Contribute positively to unit team building and maintain a supportive work environment
• Maintain communication with management regarding supplies, equipment, and clinical training needs
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested after orientation
• Engage in professional development through continuing education and self-study
