• Setting: Cardiac Post CTICU / CVICU (cardiac surgical ICU)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:15)

• Patient Ratios: 1:2 (may go to 1:3 based on acuity; fresh open heart patients typically 1:1)
• Floating: May float to CCU/CTICU, ICU, or stepdown units
• Charting: Epic (Epic experience preferred)
• Scrubs: Royal Blue
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU / cardiac surgical ICU experience (post-op cardiac nurse, CABG, valve replacement)
• Active New Jersey (NJ) RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Stroke CEUs required
• Hands-on experience with fresh open heart surgical patients, CABG, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), Impella, TAVR
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Epic charting experience preferred (electronic medical record experience a plus)
• First-time travel nurses welcome — travel nurse onboarding supported

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-cardiac surgery and CVICU nursing care for complex, high-acuity patients
• Manage advanced cardiac devices including IABP, Impella, and TAVR support
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to changes in patient status
• Deliver comprehensive post-op care for fresh open heart cases (CABG, valve replacement)
• Float to CCU/CTICU, ICU, or stepdown units as patient census and acuity require
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, perfusionists, respiratory therapy) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic and adhere to regulatory standards and patient ratios
• Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and required training modules
