This 13-week travel contract offers a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical setting caring for adult and geriatric patients with complex cardiac and stroke diagnoses. Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890 – $1,990 (competitive travel RN pay)
- Location: South Bend, IN 46601 — travel nursing job in South Bend, Indiana
- Setting: Short Term Acute Care – Intermediate Cardiac/Stroke Unit (cardiac stepdown / telemetry)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:00)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: 1:4 (cardiac/telemetry)
- Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend & holiday
- Parking: Free overnight parking in garage; free parking in designated outside lots
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of recent cardiac stepdown or telemetry nursing experience (2 years preferred)
- Active Registered Nurse license (pending accepted, must be active prior to start)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Proficiency in reading, identifying, and reacting to cardiac rhythms (must pass Tele Rhythm Identification Quiz)
- Experience with cardiac drips (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix)
- Experience caring for stroke and renal patients
- Ability to float to like or lesser units as needed
- Cerner EMR/charting experience preferred
- Must live outside a 50-mile radius from South Bend
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, stroke, and telemetry needs
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms (telemetry/ECG) and respond appropriately
- Manage and titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive infusions as required
- Care for patients requiring hemodialysis coordination (performed by outside company)
- Administer all modes of oxygenation except ventilators
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and others
- Float to similar units within the facility as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
- Adhere to professional conduct standards, facility policies, and patient safety protocols
