Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in Carlsbad, NM – 13-week travel nursing contract. Requires 2+ years OR/perioperative RN experience and current RN license.

Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120 - $2,230 (competitive travel RN pay)
• Location: Carlsbad, NM 88220 (Carlsbad, New Mexico healthcare / New Mexico nursing jobs)
• Facility Size: 99 beds
• Unit: 6 operating rooms; ~250 procedures per month (perioperative / surgical nurse setting)
• Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday
• Shift Duration: 8-hour shifts
• Call Requirements: Minimum 1 weekday per week, weekend rotation; on-call shifts Monday–Friday 3:30 PM–7:00 AM, Saturday & Sunday 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (travel nursing opportunity)
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse / Travel RN

Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience (perioperative nursing, surgical nurse experience)
• Active RN license (State RN licensure required)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Experience with general surgery, orthopedics, OBGYN, podiatry, plastics, endoscopy, trauma, and DaVinci robotics
• Adult and pediatric surgical experience required

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative patient care as an OR RN circulator and scrub when needed
• Demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in the operating room
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR techs, and perioperative staff to ensure safe surgical outcomes
• Maintain sterile technique, ensure supplies are available, and help cases run on time (surgical workflow management)
• Communicate effectively with patients' families and update physician preference cards
• Supervise personnel delivering patient care in accordance with State Nurse Practice Act, AORN guidelines, and hospital policies
