Job Details
- Position: Occupational Therapist (OT) / Travel OT – Hospital
- Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico (88220) – Carlsbad Caverns area
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,920 – $2,060
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 27, 2026)
- Setting: Hospital – 99-bed facility with 10 inpatient rehab beds and 15 swing beds (inpatient rehab, acute care OT)
- Shift: Days, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday; one Saturday per month; holidays required
- Hours per Week: 40
- Patient Ratio: 1:1 (one-on-one inpatient therapy)
- Electronic Medical Record: MedHost
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapy experience, with acute care experience required (hospital or inpatient rehab preferred)
- Active OT license in New Mexico or eligibility for state licensure (travel OT licensure support may be available)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Fingerprints required for all New Mexico travelers
- Strong documentation skills in MedHost or similar EMR; excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities (Hospital / Inpatient Rehab OT)
- Perform comprehensive OT evaluations and develop individualized, age-appropriate treatment plans focused on acute care and inpatient rehabilitation
- Deliver one-on-one therapeutic interventions to maximize functional status, mobility, ADLs, and safe discharge outcomes
- Collaborate in care plan meetings, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, and support discharge planning
- Adapt and modify treatment programs based on patient progress and medical status
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and pursue ongoing professional development in occupational therapy
- Complete timely, accurate documentation in MedHost EMR and perform required administrative duties
