Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of sterile processing experience in a hospital or acute care setting performing instrument reprocessing
- Familiarity with sterilization methods and technologies (steam autoclave, low-temperature sterilization, high-level disinfection)
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and instrument tray assembly
- Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize in a fast-paced surgical environment, and commitment to patient safety
- Relevant certification preferred: CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
- Experience with instrument tracking systems, sterilization records, and compliance with regulatory standards (AAMI, CDC)
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment to hospital and regulatory standards
- Prepare and maintain instrument trays, sets, and implants for surgical procedures
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, complete sterilization cycles, and maintain accurate sterilization logs
- Perform quality assurance checks, equipment maintenance, and infection prevention practices in central sterile processing
- Collaborate with operating room staff, surgical technologists, and nursing teams to ensure timely instrument availability for cases
- Document sterilization processes and maintain compliance with hospital policies and external regulations
