Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) in a hospital setting
- Specific experience with orthopedic and neurosurgical instrument sets required
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Tech required (e.g., CRCST or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of sterilization standards and infection control (AAMI, hospital policies)
- Experience with instrument decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization cycles (steam, EO) and sterile storage
- Travel experience highly preferred — travel sterile processing tech jobs welcomed
Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment in the CSPD
- Support orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures with specialized instrument handling and set assembly
- Operate and monitor sterilizers and documentation systems to ensure proper sterilization cycles
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage; repair or report issues per hospital protocol
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, instrument tracking, and quality assurance logs
- Ensure compliance with hospital infection control standards and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to prioritize instrument availability and support patient care
