• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000 - $2,100
• Location: Herrin, Illinois (Herrin, IL 62948) — Southern Illinois nursing job
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Unit: Med-Surg Ortho (orthopedic nursing, post-op care)
• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) — night shift RN / travel nurse
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Start Date: April 20, 2026
• Employment Type: Travel, On-Site (Travel Nurse / Travel RN)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Possible to other Med-Surg departments

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year recent Med-Surg Ortho RN experience (2+ years preferred) — orthopedic RN or Med-Surg RN experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Nursing certification required (orthopedic, Med-Surg certification preferred)
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend (night shift experience preferred)
• Willingness to float to other Med-Surg units as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality orthopedic nursing and Med-Surg RN care for pre- and post-operative patients
• Monitor patient progress, assess surgical and orthopedic patients, and document findings accurately
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed; manage pain control and wound care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (surgery, physical therapy, case management) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Use Epic EMR (preferred) for accurate charting, admissions, discharges, and patient education documentation
• Assist with patient education, discharge planning, and transitions of care for orthopedic patients
• Adapt to floating between Med-Surg departments when needed to support staffing and patient care
