Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent clinical laboratory training
- 5 years of experience as a Histology Technologist / Histotechnologist or Histology Technician
- ASCP certification (ASCP HT/HTL or equivalent)
- Epic AP experience (electronic medical record experience preferred)
- Comprehensive skills in embedding, cutting (microtomy), staining, and grossing small biopsies
- Demonstrated grossing experience and familiarity with tissue processing equipment
- Ability to use personal computers and applicable laboratory software
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with the public, clinical teams, and interdepartmentally
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable, consistent punctual attendance and strong work ethic
- General knowledge of histologic techniques, laboratory procedures, quality control, and safety precautions
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists in a clinical pathology/histology lab
- Perform embedding, cutting (microtomy), staining, and grossing of small biopsies following anatomic pathology protocols
- Operate and maintain tissue processors, microtomes, stainers, and other laboratory equipment efficiently and safely
- Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and timely completion of laboratory tasks within the histology workflow
- Maintain laboratory safety, quality control, and confidentiality standards in accordance with regulatory and institutional policies
- Collaborate with laboratory staff, pathologists, and other departments to support patient care and diagnostic services
