Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,080 - $1,160
- Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Assignment Type: Travel Sterile Processing / Central Sterile (SPD) position
- Facility: Level One trauma center (acute care, high-acuity surgical services)
- Shift: Mid Shift, 5x8-Hour Evenings (Mon–Fri, 3:00pm – 11:30pm), occasional holidays
- Hours per Week: 40
- On-site: Yes
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 3 years recent experience in a busy acute care hospital (Level One trauma preferred)
- Required certification: CBSPD or CRCST (HSPA, formerly IAHCSMM)
- Experience with tracking systems (Censitrac / CensiTrac) and instrument tracking
- High-Level Disinfection (HLD) and endoscope / scope reprocessing experience
- Experience with sterilization equipment (STERRAD and steam sterilizers) and sterilization processes
- Ability to float to other locations and support multiple service lines
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- Two professional references required (one from manager/director or supervisor)
- Former employees eligible if separated for 6+ months; current employees ineligible
Key Responsibilities
- Decontamination and cleaning of surgical instruments and equipment (including drills, DaVinci instruments, scopes)
- Instrument assembly across all service lines: trauma, loaners, specialty trays, peel packaging
- Perform sterilization processes using STERRAD and steam sterilizers; ensure proper sterilization parameters
- High-level disinfection and endoscope / scope reprocessing per facility and manufacturer guidelines
- Maintain sterile storage, proper labeling, traceability, and accurate documentation
- Serve as a clinical liaison between Operating Rooms (OR) and Central Sterile Services (CSS/SSD)
- Track, allocate, and manage sterilized instrumentation across multiple sites and service lines
- Standardize instrument trays and support enterprise-wide instrument reprocessing and quality initiatives
