- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
- Location: Hilo, HI 96720 – Hilo, Hawaii (Big Island); local travel nursing job and Hawaii nursing opportunity
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (May 18, 2026 – August 17, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour days (06:45 to 19:15), scheduled 36 hours/week following orientation
- Employment Type: Travel RN, On-site clinical position
- Orientation: Arrive Thursday before start for employee health appointment on Friday
Required Qualifications – Registered Nurse (RN), Cardiac/Telemetry
- Active RN license in Hawaii required (must apply upon acceptance if not already licensed)
- Minimum 2 years recent RN experience in a stepdown, medical-surgical, or cardiac/telemetry unit
- BLS (American Heart Association) required
- ACLS preferred; additional certifications (PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC) a plus
- Proof of immunity required (medical and religious exemptions not accepted)
- Professional nursing attire – clean scrubs
Core Responsibilities – Cardiac Stepdown Nurse (RN)
- Deliver high-quality patient care in the Cardiac Stepdown (step-down/telemetry) unit; provide cardiac nursing and post-procedural monitoring
- Float between Medical, Laulima, and Cardiovascular units as needed to support med-surg and specialty teams
- Use Meditech EMR, Pyxis medication systems, wound vacs, and manage chest tubes
- Perform nursing assessments, interventions, and procedures appropriate for stepdown and med-surg patients
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (cardiologists, surgeons, respiratory therapy, and case management) to optimize patient outcomes
- Adapt to varying nurse-to-patient ratios (Medical: 1:6 days/eves, 1:8 nights; Laulima: 1:6; Cardiovascular: 1:4)
- Participate in unit-specific training, orientation, and competency validation for telemetry and cardiac care
