Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled CVOR Surgical Technologist (Cardiovascular Operating Room) for a 13-week travel contract in Columbia, South Carolina. You will assist surgeons and the perioperative team during complex cardiovascular procedures, maintain sterile technique, and support patient safety for adult and geriatric populations. Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,010 – $2,160
- Position Type: Travel Surgical Technologist / CVOR Surgical Tech
- Location: Columbia, SC 29203 (Richland County) — South Carolina travel healthcare job
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Shift: 4 x 10-hour day shifts (07:00 – 17:30)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Orientation: 30 hours
- Call Requirements: Will be discussed during interview
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Qualifications & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR Surgical Technologist experience (cardiovascular OR preferred)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- ACLS preferred
- NBSTSA or NCCT certification accepted if employed as a Surgical Tech in South Carolina prior to Jan 1, 2008, or completion of a Surgical Tech military training program
- Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent U.S. Armed Forces training
- EPIC EMR experience preferred (electronic medical record experience is a plus)
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Must be eligible to travel and meet facility radius/credentialing requirements for travel assignments
Key Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons, circulating nurses, and the cardiovascular OR team during open heart and other cardiovascular procedures
- Prepare, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for CVOR cases
- Ensure strict adherence to sterile technique and perioperative safety protocols
- Support adult and geriatric patient populations; anticipate surgeon needs and instrument preferences
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV Teams and Radiology to coordinate perioperative care
- Float to other units as needed based on facility census and staffing requirements
- Complete pre-assignment testing and required onboarding modules prior to start date
