This facility is hiring a travel respiratory therapist (RRT) to support both the main hospital and its East Madison location. Ideal candidates have NBRC – RRT credentials, a WI RCP license, Epic charting experience, and prior travel RT experience. Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830 - $1,970 (competitive for travel respiratory therapist roles)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 27, 2026)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30); may include evening shifts (15:00 – 23:30, 23:00 – 07:30)
- Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and some holidays required
- On Call: 1 call shift every 6-week scheduling period
- Setting: Hospital Respiratory Therapy – Tech / Critical Care / Progressive Care float
- Location: Madison, WI 53792 (Madison, WI travel RT opportunity)
Required Qualifications (Respiratory Therapist, RRT)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a staff respiratory therapist in an academic Level 1 Trauma Center or similar-size hospital
- Graduate of a COARC-accredited respiratory therapy program
- WI RCP license (Respiratory Care Practitioner) — must be in hand at submittal
- NBRC – RRT credential required
- BLS certification (AHA only)
- Experience with both pediatric and adult populations preferred
- Prior travel respiratory therapist experience required
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) experience required
- Telemetry exam required prior to start (strict passing criteria)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Key Responsibilities (Hospital Respiratory Therapist / Travel RT)
- Provide respiratory care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients across hospital settings
- Perform critical care procedures: aerosol therapy, BiPAP/CPAP setup, intubation assist, arterial blood gas draws, ventilator management and weaning
- Deliver tracheostomy care, pulmonary hygiene, and RSV patient management
- Support interdisciplinary care teams and float between units (ICU, step-down, med/surg) as staffing requires
- Participate in weekend/holiday rotations and fulfill on-call responsibilities
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and adhere to hospital competency, testing, and policy requirements
