• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 – $2,130
• Location: Lake Forest, IL (60045) – Chicago area, Lake County nursing jobs
• Contract Duration: 12 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Setting: Community Hospital, PCU / Stepdown Unit (telemetry)
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Daily Census: 22 patients

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license (must be in hand)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
• Minimum 1 year direct PCU / Stepdown RN experience; telemetry experience preferred
• Epic electronic health record (EHR) experience required
• COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations required (medical exemptions only for COVID-19)
• Two professional references (one from a Supervisor/Manager/Charge RN within the last year)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the Progressive Care Unit / Stepdown setting
• Monitor and manage cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmias, and post-cardiac procedures
• Care for patients pre/post cardiac surgery, pacemaker implant, ablation, and cardiac catheterization
• Manage central lines, chest tubes, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and complex wound care
• Administer blood products, manage BiPAP/CPAP, and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Follow IV insulin protocols and manage cardiac drips (no titration)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, IV team, and rapid response
• Adhere to isolation precautions, PPE protocols, and hospital safety standards
• Participate in on-call rotation for low census and work required weekend shifts
