Travel Surgical Technologist – Northampton, MA | 13-week Operating Room (OR) assignment. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required to support a busy hospital OR in the Pioneer Valley. Join a skilled perioperative team delivering exceptional patient care.
Job Details
- Location: Northampton, MA 01060 – Northampton, Pioneer Valley, Western Massachusetts; ideal for candidates searching Massachusetts surgical tech jobs or travel healthcare opportunities.
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 26, 2026 – July 25, 2026)
- Setting: Hospital Operating Room (OR) – inpatient surgical services (general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology)
- Shift: 8-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Call Requirement: 1 weekday per week (5 PM – 7 AM) and 1 weekend day per month (7 AM – 7 AM); additional call may be required
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,810 – $1,940 (competitive travel surgical tech pay)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of an accredited surgical technology program
- Certification in Surgical Technology required (Certified Surgical Technologist - CST preferred)
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of work experience as a Surgical Technologist, with experience in general surgery, orthopedics, and gynecology preferred
- Familiarity with sterile technique, instrument handling, and perioperative protocols in a hospital OR setting
Key Responsibilities (Surgical Tech / Scrub Tech)
- Plan, prepare, and maintain surgical instrumentation and the sterile field peri-operatively; set up instrument tables and surgical supplies
- Scrub, gown, and glove for procedures and assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies efficiently and safely
- Perform surgical counts, assist with specimen handling, and ensure compliance with AORN and facility sterile processing standards
- Assist with post-operative room turnover, instrument decontamination, and OR room readiness for subsequent cases
- Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards
- Participate in required on-call rotations and respond promptly to emergent surgical needs
