Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,950 - $2,060
- Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320 (Chesapeake nursing jobs / Virginia nursing jobs)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (04/27/2026 – 07/27/2026)
- Setting: Community Hospital – 15-bed OBED/Antepartum, 11 labor beds, 2 ORs, 2-bed PACU
- Shift: Day shifts, 12 hours (07:00 – 19:30); 3x12 or 4x12 per week (candidate preference)
- Patient Ratios: 1:2
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling
- Coverage: Weekend and holiday coverage required
- Role Type: Travel nursing / temporary assignment
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of current Labor & Delivery RN experience (labor and delivery nursing, obstetric nursing)
- Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license in hand (no exceptions)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced & Intermediate
- EPIC charting proficiency required (electronic medical record experience)
- No prior license or background hits
- Must pass fit testing (no PAPR accommodation)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (travel nurse eligibility)
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to laboring and antepartum patients (adolescents and adults) as a Labor & Delivery nurse
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and obstetric emergencies
- Perform and document assessments, interventions, and evaluations using EPIC
- Administer medications and infusions including magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
- Monitor fetal heart rates and interpret electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) tracings
- Support patients and families through labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery with patient-centered care
- Float to Women's Services as needed (perinatal, postpartum, and antepartum support)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, and rapid response teams
