- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,110 - $1,190
- Assignment Duration: 17 weeks (No extensions due to union rules)

- Shift: Night shift, 5x8-hour shifts (23:00 - 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 40

- Orientation: First week, 07:00 - 15:30
- Rotating Weekends: Every other weekend
- Holidays: As assigned
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing, Surgical Technologist, or Sterile Processing Technician roles (SPD)
- National sterile processing certification required (examples: IAHCSMM CRCST or CBSPD certification)
- Eligible to work in Illinois and hold appropriate state or national licensure/certification
- Ability to meet productivity goal of ~800 instruments processed per shift (mix of small and large trays)
- Must not have worked at any University of Chicago location in the past 7 months (traveler restriction)
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and assigned holidays
- Legal first and last name required for submission
- Completion of orientation and annual training modules (average 5 hours, non-billable)
Key Responsibilities
- Process, decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays following hospital SPD policies and infection control standards
- Achieve productivity targets by efficiently processing a mix of small and large surgical trays to reach ~800 instruments per shift
- Operate sterilizers (autoclaves), ultrasonic cleaners, and other SPD equipment safely and accurately
- Maintain accurate sterilization logs, tray counts, and instrument tracking documentation
- Collaborate with OR, nursing, and perioperative teams to ensure timely delivery of sterile supplies for cases
- Adhere to AAMI and facility standards for sterilization, handling, and storage of sterile items
- Participate in orientation, competency assessments, and annual training modules
- Work assigned night shifts, rotating weekends, and holidays as scheduled
