ICU Travel Nurse Requirements (Qualifications)

  • Minimum 3 years of recent ICU / critical care RN experience
  • Active RN license (Wisconsin or compact state) — Travel Nurse friendly
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Covid-19 vaccination required
  • Clinical skills: trachs, ventilator management, chest tubes, vasoactive drips, procedural recoveries, temporary pacemakers
  • Experience with EPIC (electronic charting), Alaris infusion pumps, and Pyxis medication systems

Responsibilities — What You’ll Do as an ICU RN / Critical Care RN

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients across neuro, post-cardiovascular surgery, medical, surgical, and trauma populations
  • Manage patient ratios typically 1:2 in a high-acuity ICU
  • Perform and monitor advanced therapies and procedures: CRRT, tracheostomy care, ventilator management, chest tube management, and vasoactive medication administration
  • Collaborate closely with CNAs, charge nurses, intensivists, mid-level providers, ICU educators, and CV coordinators
  • Use bedside and centralized tele-monitoring systems for patient surveillance
  • Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC (electronic health record)
