Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field
  • Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (RDN/RD)
  • Current state licensure/certification if required by Florida
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a facility setting (hospital or acute care preferred)

Preferred Skills & Keywords

  • Experience with Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • Strong nutrition assessment, documentation, and care planning skills
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (nursing, pharmacy, speech therapy, physicians)
  • Knowledge of diet modification for cultural, religious, and ethnic needs
  • Familiarity with menu planning, tray audits, and food service oversight

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Dietitian Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nutrition assessments, reassessments, and develop individualized care plans using Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)
  • Develop, implement, and monitor enteral and parenteral nutrition support in collaboration with pharmacy and medical staff
  • Monitor patient progress, adjust nutrition interventions, and document outcomes in the medical record
  • Evaluate potential food–drug and herb/supplement interactions and incorporate findings into care plans
  • Collaborate with Speech Therapy on diet progression and transitional feeding plans

Education, Operations & Team Collaboration

  • Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers
  • Develop and implement educational programs for patients and staff
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and communicate nutrition care recommendations
  • Serve as a resource to food service staff; advise on special preparation techniques for modified diets
  • Participate in menu planning, review/approve menus and substitutions, and perform meal rounds and tray audits
  • Engage in performance improvement programs and departmental initiatives to enhance nutrition services
  • Maintain current professional registration and demonstrate commitment to continuing education
