Job Details
- Location: Carlsbad, NM 88220 (New Mexico nursing jobs; Carlsbad travel nurse opportunity)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (travel nurse contract)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM) — night shift ICU RN
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 – $2,010
- Start Date: 5/4/2026
- Unit: ICU (12 beds, patient ratio 1:2-3) — critical care
- Floating: Required to Emergency Department (ER) & Medical-Surgical (Med Surg)
- EMR: MedHost (experience with MedHost EMR preferred)
- Scrub Color: Any
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience as an ICU RN or Critical Care RN
- Active RN license (state-specific requirements apply for Travel Nurse)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Experience with ventilator management, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene
- Recent ER and Med Surg experience required for floating responsibilities
- TNCC certification preferred
- Ability to float to ER (supportive tasks) and Med Surg (full assignment or aide role)
- Fingerprinting required for all New Mexico travelers (agency must be registered with NM)
- Willingness to work scheduled holidays
Responsibilities
- Provide total care to ICU patients, including ventilator management, titratable drips, and hygiene care
- Float to the ER to assist with call lights, medication administration, IV starts, blood draws, and patient transport (no patient assignments in ER)
- Float to Med Surg for full patient assignments (up to 6 patients) or act as an aide (up to 12 patients)
- Document care and maintain accurate patient records using MedHost EMR
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols
