- Unit: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), 16-bed adult high-acuity unit
- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 5/4/2026, End: 8/2/2026)
- Shift: 12-hour days (07:00–19:00), every other weekend required
- Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours per week) • Guaranteed Hours: 36
- EMR: Meditech
- Parking: Available
- Scrub Colors: Solid Navy
- Float Requirement: Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in nursing required
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama or valid Compact RN license (No temporary licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; will consider 18 months if working under highest level of professional license, and must have 1 year of recent MICU experience
- Current AHA ACLS and AHA BLS required (Red Cross equivalents accepted)
- AHA NIH certification required (or equivalent)
- Nursys verification required
- PALS certification preferred if working in pediatric unit
Preferred Clinical Skills (ICU RN / Critical Care)
- Experience with ventilator management and respiratory support
- Hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive drips
- Advanced cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and code response experience
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and multidisciplinary communication skills
Responsibilities
- Provide high-level critical care nursing and complex monitoring for adult MICU patients
- Manage ventilators, titratable drips, invasive lines, and advanced monitoring per unit protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and the multidisciplinary care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Float to other units and hospitals as needed to support patient care and staffing
- Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech and adhere to facility documentation standards
- Follow facility dress code, safety policies, and infection control procedures
- Work every other weekend and holidays as required by facility
